Do Cellulite Laser Procedures Work?
Cellulite is such a prevalent condition that it affects 80-90% of women.
For many of these women, cellulite laser procedures may offer the best
results in their attempts to get rid of this unsightly skin condition.
A skin condition caused by bulging fat cells beneath the skin, cellulite can
be stubbornly resist to treatment. Factors such as excess weight, hormonal
imbalance, a sedentary lifestyle, injury, genetic predisposition and loss of
elasticity in fibrous tissue all contribute to cellulite. The condition can
affect young and old, fit and unfit – just about anyone.

When subcutaneous fat seeps into the dermal layer, it can cause herniations
that present themselves as bumps and bulges, between the tissues that hold
the subdural layer in place. This causes the characteristic cottage cheese
looking skin in areas affected by cellulite. Cellulite can be a problem in
any part of the body where the layer of fatty tissue between the muscles and
the surface skin is thick enough to be visible.
When functioning properly,
the body keeps these areas in an elastic sort of net, with the fatty layer
held in place at intervals along the net. Loss of elasticity beneath the
skin can cause fat cells to break through the net, taking advantage of
stretched tissues and causing lumpy sections. Tackling these herniated areas
is where cellulite laser treatments may be useful.
While it is still a relatively new procedure, laser treatment has shown
promising results. It is more common in Europe, where it has been found to
be safe and effective, and also faster than some other therapies.
Cellulite laser therapy works by massaging the affected areas, improving
circulation. This reduces the cellulite level because circulation is needed
to remove the built-up fats and toxins in the subdural area, and also it
promotes proper hydration and lymph drainage. These are essential in the
treatment of cellulite and the safe, efficient reduction of visible fat in
the affected areas.
Proper hydration is especially important to the effectiveness of laser
treatment, and other processes and procedures related to cellulite. Fluid is
necessary to rejuvenate the cells, to carry away fat and toxins that have
built up in the derma, and to encourage the elasticity in the connective
tissues that is necessary to prevent new cellulite from adding to the
problem.
Dermal fillers and liposuction can work in conjunction with cellulite laser
remedies. A proper diet and exercise regimen will also work hand in hand
with interventions to treat the condition.
